New Era is a sports fashion company that in the first half of the 20th century made the manufacture of baseball caps the flagship of its production, the first being that of the Cleveland Indians team in 1934. Years later they began to become in suppliers of other franchises such as the Detroit Tigers, the Brooklyn Dodgers or the Cincinnati Reds. The consolidation of the brand made New Era the only independent producer of caps for MLB teams. During the 70s they wanted to go one step further and tried to extrapolate those same designs to a more urban context, to increase the number of potential buyers. Thus, after various marketing campaigns, the message spread that New Era was intended for all types of audiences and that it was a simple and comfortable accessory, the ideal complement to a casual wardrobe.
